I spent twelve years in Hampshire Constabulary, from 2007 to 2019. In
that time I was a tutor constable mentoring new officers through their first months on the street, and a temporary Sergeant running small teams. Between 2014 and 2016 I was seconded to national strategic planning, based in Westminster, travelling to forces across the country to train officers on the Mercury national mutual aid system. I founded Darwin Training Solutions in 2019 to bring that experience into the classroom.
Why the training is different
Most people arrive on a mandatory course expecting to be bored. I’ve spent my career in situations where getting it wrong had consequences, and that’s what I bring into the room: real scenarios, honest conversation, and a pace that gives people time to actually absorb what they’re learning.
The mental health courses in particular draw on my own experience. Candidates consistently tell me that’s what makes them trust the material.
Qualifications
• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET)
• Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA)
• CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Management
• NUCO accredited instructor — First Aid for Mental Health, Levels 1 to 3
• MHFA England trained
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
• Currently studying for a law degree
